Out on the Prowl…

I’ve decided this post shall be dedicated to party dress/night/club wear. I know its winter but you should be hot on the dance floor bitches!

There are many different types of “party” girls. Now, I don’t mean party obsessed girls. I mean when a girl is feeling good about herself in her own style of party dress that fits right and feels right. If you aren’t wearing something that feels right for you, you won’t feel confident, and you will not have a good time. So what makes you feel at your hottest?

The Look-But-Don’t-Touch:

This is a cute twist on the regular singlet dress. The neckline leaves it appropriate for many occasions.

Tips: For hourglass/straight or top heavy girls.

The Chic Chick:

I love this style because of the peplum. It is a gift from the gods. It hides bloating and/or love handles like a dream.

Tips: Don’t heavily accessorize with this dress, as it is already eye catching.

Found at: eBay $11.99

The Daring Darling:

This is definitely for a daring/confident girl to pull off. The lacing in the back is so interesting to look at, and the plain front makes it a blank canvas to accessorize to perfect a killer outfit.

Tips: Don’t wear with a bra, or for the lucky big bosomed lovelies out there, wear a sticky bra.

The Short But Sweet.

This style is flattering  to all shapes and the loose fabric hides unwanted lumps and bumps. Great for a casual BBQ or for a night out.

That Little Bit Extra…

There are countless ways to accessorize and turn a nothing outfit into a little summin’ summin’.
It’s impossible to list them all, but here a few goodies that EVERYONE should have.

The Olive Scarf:

This is pretty much just your average black scarf that can be worn with so many outfits for a cute winter chic look. The only thing I can really say about this is that YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE ONE!

Tips: DO NOT wear with little “club” dresses.

The Statement Necklace:

This particular piece is amazing because it works with alot. You could wear it with a chiffon collared blouse with the collar folded over the necklace. You could wear it with high necklines, low necklines, no necklines (preferably not in public if this is the case) and so on. But you don’t have to limit your self to just this piece! There are thousands of statement necklaces out there!

Tips: Don’t mix with silver jewellry.

THE CUFF:

Like the necklace, the cuff is also a statement, and is something that shouldn’t be over done though often is. However this is a great piece to really complete an outfit when your off out for the night.

Tips: If you are wearing a cuff. It should be the only bracelet you’re wearing.

The Edgy Earring:

Earrings have made their way back on the scene in a big way after a little hiatus there. Not more hook dangly beaded earrings though to my delight, but fun edgy different earrings like these.

Tips: Not a casual piece.

When It’s Cold Outside…

A winter staple that EVERYONE should have is a good knit. Whether its a thick cardigan, a shawl, a cape, a sweater or all of the above, a knit is one thing a girl can’t live with out. So with out further a due…

The Over-Sized Cardi/Cape:

This is a great throw-on-after-you-realise-how-chilly-it-is piece because it goes with pretty much everything. In my last post I showed you the chiffon version but this is a much better choice on a cold day.

Tips: Great for layering.

Found at: eBay $8.99

The Waterfall Cardigan:

This is great because it’s a little less “blah” then a regular cardigan. I don’t know if its just me, but i find regular, black button down cardigans have been done to death. This is one of many solutions to that problem. It has that something extra that doesn’t make it boring.

Tips: This is a casual cardigan.

The Over-sized Jumper:

This style is my go to on lazy days. My favourite jumper is a men’s large sweater I got from kmart. It doesn’t matter what you have on underneath. This style hides unwanted lumps and bumps and looks great with a pair of tights and a scarf.

Tips: For cold days (you don’t want to be taking it on and off)

The Chiffon Under it all.

This season is all about layers, which is great because it mean I get to wear my favourite fabric all year round. Chiffon is a lightweight, thin, flowy material that drapes beautifully on any body type to flatter (and hide certain lumps and bumps) like no other. So here are a few ways to wear chiffon.

The Chiffon Sleeveless Shirt:

I own many, many different types, colours and prints of this style shirt. I love it simply for it’s versatility. You can slap on a blazer and some leggings with it for a smart casual look, or swap the pants for a high-waisted skirt for a chic corporate look. The thin fabric doesn’t crease so can be tucked in to a pair of shorts for a more relaxed style.

Tips: Very sheer fabric, should be worn with a singlet, crop or bandeau.

Found at: Supre $15.00

The Over-Sized Cape:

This style is a great addition to any outfit to add a pop of colour or just to keep the shoulders a bit warm. This can dress up an outfit for a party or a dinner out, and can also just be worn for a trip to the beach or a BBQ.

Tips: Doesn’t provide a great deal of warmth, Wear on warmer days/nights.

The Chiffon Pleated Skirt:

This item is a fun little skirt that can be worn basically any where with anything. It is very flattering and extremely versatile. It can be worn with a blouse and blazer for a chic look, or a bandeau and blazer for a party look.

TIps: Looks best with heels.
May blow up in the wind.

SHOES SHOES SHOES!

I, personally, am addicted to shoes and I know for a fact I am not alone. So gather round darlings. Don’t be afraid, let us indulge together…

The thick heel pump:

Smyth Black

I love love love this chunky heel. Not only is this aesthetically pleasing, but the thick heel and platform makes them incredibly comfortable and easy to walk in. So your feet… and budget can stay in tact. Bonus! They come in many colours and prints!

Tips: These can be worn with ANYTHING! I especially like them with leggings and skirts.

These are not casual heels.

The low-cut bootie:

Frances

I actually tried this shoe on yesterday and fell in love. They’re so comfortable and look fantastic with leggings. They’re on sale at the moment so it’s the perfect time to get your hands on a pair.

Tips: Doesn’t look so great with skirts.

Can be worn as a casual heel. Looks amazing with leggings.

Found at: Payless Shoes $29.

The ever heel:

This shoe is great because it’s like the classic pump with a twist. It’s extremely versatile and will never go out of fashion.

Tips: Goes with trousers, leggings, dresses, skirts, shorts, everything!

Beware, the thin heel will sink into grass. Not a BBQ shoe.

HEY BITCHES!

What better way to start out my new blog then with the beginning of a new season.

WINTER is here people, and I’ve decided to take it upon myself to pass down my knowledge of bargains and style to show you the most affordable, chic winter styles this season on a student budget.

For starters, leggings. Leggings are always in style and the great thing about them right now is that there are so many different types you can wear other than the regular black legging.

The pleather legging:

I am obsessed with with this style of legging right now. You can wear them casually with flats/biker boots or dress them up with a pair of heels for a night out.

Tips: Worn best with a heel that shows the top of your foot or it can look too busy.

Try to wear these with longer blouses or knits that cover your backside as these pants tend to show a prominent panty-line.

Found at: These are pretty much everywhere but can be found at cotton on for just $10.

The crushed velvet legging.

These are a more casual legging that I love because you can wear them in colour (maroon, purple, teal) and get away with it! They’re very warm so they’re great for winter and look great with any other fabric (apart from knit)

Tips:  Doesn’t go with knit sweaters.

Wear with longer tops, if you are not a size 6, these can be prone to camel toes.

Found at: Glue, or eBay for $15.99

The vertical stripe legging:

This style is for the more daring of you as it takes confidence to pull it off. The vertical pattern does wanders for the legs elongating them and flattering them.

Tips: Wear with black or white top.

Looks great with biker boot or heel.

Found at: eBay for $5.99

Now you see when I said “affordable” I really meant it.
